The latest news from your Malheur Enterprise

Good morning…..

There was standing room only at Wednesday’s Town Hall in Vale concerning Pioneer Place, the only nursing home in the area.

More than 200 people braved the heat to hear from Pioneer Place officials about the dire state of the Vale facility. They shared financial details showing costs out overrunning income and a need for more than $1 million in repairs and upgrades for the building.

Among those absorbing the news were U.S. Rep. Cliff Bentz, state Sen. Lynn Findley, Commissioners Jim Mendiola and Ron Jacobs, Vale Mayor Tom Vialpando and Ontario City Councilor Ken Hart.

Reporter Pat Caldwell will work up a detailed report about the session that we’ll share soon as it’s ready.

Here’s a look at some of the more recent other news to bring you up to speed on life in Malheur County.
