The latest news from your Malheur Enterprise

Good morning.

We are publishing a three-part special report this week with an inside look at the troubles of the Treasure Valley Reload Center project.

Your news team at the Enterprise made effective use of the state’s public records law to obtain documents that otherwise weren’t available. They reveal that project managers have no current budget, no plan for raising all the money they need but they are counting on one key source – more public money.

The public board in charge of the project has scheduled a meeting for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Waldo Conference Center in Nyssa. A meeting last month was ended because project leaders said they needed more time to gather spending information. If you have any interest in how your money is being used or how decisions are being made, you can watch the meeting online via Zoom. Use this MCDC zoom link. (Meeting ID: 872 6044 0887 Passcode: 515021).

Next week, we’ll share with you what steps we took to report on these matters, being transparent with our community about how we do our work and the care we take to give those in charge of this project opportunity to address information and questions.

Here are our first two reports and plus news about your community. Do you have a story idea? We’d love to hear. Send an email to Editor Les Zaitz: [email protected].

CATS: “Find your Valentine Adoption Event”

Sarge is the most perfect kitty you will ever meet. He is sweet, loving, playful and the perfect snuggle buddy!

Sarge, who is 8 1/2 years old, has been at the shelter for one year and eight months. A lot of this time he has been Archie’s comfort buddy – he took incredible care of his best friend.

Snuggling with him, grooming him and just being with Archie while he was battling kidney disease.

We haven’t really tried very hard to find a family for Sarge through this time, knowing Archie needed him.

We lost our beloved Archie almost two weeks ago and it’s obvious that Sarge really misses his best friend, He’s now ready to start his happily-ever-after with a family of his own!!

All the volunteers absolutely adore this adorable boy!

Sarge is neutered, UTD on vaccinations and tested negative for FeLV & FIV.

He is indoor only for his safety. No declawing is allowed..

Come meet Sarge on Saturday to see if you have found your newest family member.

THIS SATURDAY’S VALENTINE EVENT: Drop in for cookies, cocoa and door prizes. Enter a raffle for a cat tree.

SATURDAY ADOPTION EVENT: Every Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Constance McCullough House, 84 N.W. 2nd St. in Ontario.
