UPDATE: The National Weather Service has upgraded its forecast to a winter storm warning for the lower Treasure Valley.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a winter storm to move through the region late Saturday night into Sunday, possibly bringing several inches of snow to Malheur County.

In the Ontario area, the forecast calls for 1 to 3 inches of snow overnight and a low down to 19. Saturday afternoon, the weather service bumped that up to forecast 2 to 4 inches in the Ontario area.

The weather service said there is “heavy snow possible” in Malheur County with some locations getting 4 to 7 inches.

Expect roads to be snow covered and “travel could become difficult,” the weather service said.

The Oregon State Police reported a series of accidents with the last storm, many involving drivers unprepared for conditions. Be sure you have decent tires and, as necessary, tire chains you know how to use before venturing out on snowy highways.

The Enterprise will monitor conditions and share new information as it is warranted.
