Police investigating fatal shooting in Ontario

ONTARIO – A 21-year-old Ontario man is dead and police arrested two individuals in connection to a fatal shooting early this morning in Ontario.

Dave Goldthorpe, Malheur County district attorney, said that the two men – whom he declined to identify because the investigation is still ongoing – will be arraigned Wednesday in Malheur County Circuit Court on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Goldthorpe did not release the ages of the two men police arrested.

Lt. Jason Cooper, interim Ontario police chief, said this afternoon the incident began when officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Northwest 6th Street at about 12:49 a.m.

“The scene was secured and the dead man lived at the residence. We are now working in conjunction with the state police, the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office and the state police crime lab,” said Cooper.

Cooper declined to release the name of the victim.

Goldthorpe said more information on the incident may be released later today.
