For 75 years, the Oregon State University Malheur Experiment Station has been holding field days to celebrate farming and teach the community about innovation and research in agriculture.
This year, festival-goers were pulled around to experimental onion and potato fields by tractors to learn about sedimentation management, native seed production and new research into irrigation techniques and weed mitigation.
Local businesses and organizations set up booths outside the station to make connections with experiment station employees and farmers.
Field day attendees stared up at a drone demonstration. Youth education stations taught kids about farming methods such as siphoning.
The day concluded with a free lunch with hamburgers, hot dogs, green salad, potato salad, baked beans and cookies.
