VALE – Three persons arrested in connection with the murder of Douglas Madrid were arraigned before Judge Erin Landis in the Malheur County Circuit Court this afternoon.
Sean Christopher Prokop, 29, Sara Rene Carter, 25, and Ryan Stephen Macias, 24, were charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, three counts of hindering prosecution and unlawful use of a weapon.
Bond for each was set at $660,000. Prokop and Macias are from Ontario. Carter is from Vale.
The three were arrested by the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office Thursday night.
In addition to the arraignments, a fourth suspect in the murder was named.
Matthew Thomas Jaggi, 24, of Parma, was also charged in an information filed by Malheur County District Attorney David Goldthorpe.
Jaggi, who faces the same charges, was being sought by police Friday.
Carter attempted to persuade the court to release her.
“I am respected in the community and have never committed a crime,” Carter said during the arraignment.
Landis was not persuaded, citing that due to the charges, a mandatory bail was required.
Macias also attempted to explain he was needed outside the jail, stating he was the sole income for his wife and daughter. Like, Carter, Landis remained at the set bail amount.
The case against all four will be presented before grand jury next week. Macias and Carter are scheduled to appear Friday, May 18 to hear formal charges from the grand jury.
Prokof is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Friday, May 18.
Police were called to the 4400 block of Highway 201, north of Ontario, at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday evening. Madrid was transported to Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Ontario where he was pronounced dead.
