Weekend rodeo clinic teaches roping, riding in Nyssa
Beginners can learn how to ride bulls and saddle broncs in a novice clinic this weekend at the Nyssa Rodeo Grounds. The clinic will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, with a rodeo at 2 p.m. Sunday. The nonprofit Euvalcree will host a variety of activities Sunday for Children’s Day.

Aladdin swoops into Four Rivers Cultural Center this week
The Disney classic is just the latest in a host of productions staged by Four Rivers Children's Community Theatre. Performances begin Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. and feature more than 90 local teenagers from area schools.

Proposed Nyssa facility faces important deadline for state money
County leaders were scheduled to furnish detailed plans this week to state officials and face another key target date in May to prove the project will be sustainable. The facility is projected to employ seven year around workers and up to 19 seasonal employees.

Judge sets bail for Ontario duo arrested after fatal shooting
Circuit court judge Lung Hung set a bail for Star Bales at $500,000 and placed a $1 million bond for Nicholas Tucker. Police arrested Bales, 21, and Tucker, 20, Tuesday afternoon as part of an investigation into the shooting death of Raymond Kelly, 21.

Fly fishermen and volunteers pitch in to clean up the Owyhee River
The Indianhead Fly Fishers of Weiser recently held its 14th annual Owyhee River cleanup event. About 50 volunteers came out to pick up trash and remove debris along the riverbank and Owyhee Lake Road.
