Vale ready to ring in the new year with spectacular fireworks display

VALE – Dwight Keller underwent back surgery recently and he isn’t supposed to be doing any heavy lifting but the longtime local resident is still spearheading the annual – and popular – Vale New Year’s Eve fireworks display.
Keller and his crew will set up and ignite thousands of dollars in fireworks beginning at 7 p.m. New Year’s Eve.
Because he won’t be as nimble as in the past Keller said he would appreciate anyone who wants to volunteer to help set up the display.
The fireworks will be detonated from the top of Rhinehart Butte at the south end of town.
“The show will last normally about 20 to 25 minutes,” said Keller.
Anyone interested in helping out Keller or with donations to pay for the fireworks can contact Keller at 208-740-0386 or stop by Malheur Drug in Vale and contact Jennifer Tolman.
