ADRIAN – The weather, the food and the fun all combined for at the 13th annual Two Rivers Park Celebration in Adrian on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The event was hosted this year by Adrian 2040, the local civic group working on strengthening the community’s feature.
A popular attraction is the annual chili cook-off.
The winner this year was the Bullseye Texas Chili cooked up by Becky Burgess and Adele Dockter, the Adrian mayor. They got $200 for their effort. Second went to Dirk Miller, who received $100, and third went to LaRae Findling, who got $50. Findling’s chili won the People’s Choice award and Nana’s Kitchen won the best decorated booth.
In the car show, Pete Sather of Ontario won the Dennis and Colleen Daugherty Award for Best of Show with his 1932 Chevy. He also won Best Hot Rod and Best Paint.
Sather was seriously injured in an accident outside of Adrian on the way home in his show car, celebration organizers said. Information on his condition wasn’t readily available.
