Drummon Basin fire nearly contained

 

Crews from the Vale District of the Bureau of Land Management plan to have the Drummond Basin Fire under control today. (The Enterprise/File).

MALHEUR COUNTY – Vale BLM crews expect to contain the 2,400-acre Drummond Basin Fire today.

The Malheur County blaze, burning five miles south of Three Forks in the Owyhee Canyon wilderness study area, started from a lightning strike Tuesday.

Crews are starting to extinguish or remove burning material from the 37-acre Anderson Crossing Fire, 10 miles northeast of McDermitt, Nevada.

On Tuesday, Vale BLM provided support to the Vale Rangeland Fire Protection Association on the 356 Fire near the Interstate 84 and Highway 201 junction south of Farewell Bend. A total of 17 acres was burned.
