VALE – Tips continue to flow into the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office on possible sightings of Douglas R. Villines, 42, wanted on charges of attempting to rape a Nyssa girl.
Malheur County Sheriff Brian Wolfe said Friday morning that “by the minute, tips and information are coming in.” He said some came from people who seemed to be trying to divert police while others were more credible.
Wolfe said that included sightings of Villines in Weiser and Fruitland Thursday.
Det. Dan Perkins, lead investigator, “was about 10 hours behind the guy yesterday,” Wolfe said.
Villines was indicted in December was indicted last month by a Malheur County grand jury on three counts of first-degree sex abuse, two counts of first-degree attempted rape, two counts of unlawful penetration, and one count each of first-degree sodomy and failing to report as a sex offender. The charges involve a 10-year-old girl.
Wolfe said anyone with information about where Villines is should call the sheriff’s dispatch center at 541-473-5125.
The local Crime Stoppers organization posted that it had a $1,000 reward for information leading to Villines’ arrest.

There is a nationwide warrant for Villines, who previously had gone to Arkansas. His bail is set at $500,000.
