NYSSA NEWS: The Nyssa Library has a new librarian assistant and activities galore for the holidays

Happy Thanksgiving to all! After your Thanksgiving Day traditions (food, family and football at our house) try something new with “optoutside” Friday. This is a day to get outdoors and explore, maybe visit a new locale or just visit familiar places and notice the change as we move into a different season.

Whatever you do, enjoy time with family and friends.

The shopping season has already begun, but don’t forget local small businesses by shopping local all year and particularly on Nov. 30 which is Small Business Saturday. Support the businesses who support the community!

• Nyssa Library is a beehive of activity with new books to enjoy, craft activities and ideas for gifts or yummy treats.

Kelli Overstreet is the new librarian assistant and one of her duties has been to create a monthly newsletter. Stop by and pick up a copy! It’s filled with library activities, book suggestions, a book review and more.

The library will be open late on parade night, Dec. 7, with Friends of the Nyssa Library serving hot chocolate and cider.

Another way you can support the library is by becoming a “friend” of the library and help with the many activities that go on there all year. For more information, attend the Friends of the Nyssa library meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3.
