Nyssa Mercantile plans grand opening and three-day celebration

Nyssa Mercantile will hold a three-day grand opening starting with a ribbon cutting at 3 p.m. this Thursday. There will be cake and an appearance by the Nyssa Middle School Advanced Choir.

Friday’s activities include free hot dogs from 4-6 p.m., the Nyssa High School Band performing at 4 p.m and a drawing for a 20V cordless drill. There will be free hot dogs again from 4-6 p.m. Saturday; drawings for a pressure washer and gas grill.

In addition to the drawings, there will be other prizes and give-aways.

Owner Liz Haun said she’s “proudly local” and “very excited to enhance the quality of our community and breathe some new life into our small town.”

• Free after school arts and crafts at the Nyssa Library will be held from 3:15-4:30 p.m. this Thursday and Friday. Stop by the library and sign up for a Steam Punk Book Bird House craft class to be held on Nov. 14. The cost for the class is $3.

The Friends of the Nyssa Library is seeking more members. This group is the fundraising arm of the library. Talk to JoElle if you are interested or have questions.

• The senior center will hold its monthly meeting at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, with a Thanksgiving dinner to follow. Ham, turkey and potatoes are provided. The rest is potluck.
