VALE – After a season of nothing but victories, the Viking ladies fell to Burns at the district seeding tournament Saturday, Oct. 26.
Vale will enter the state tournament as the league’s No. 2 seed. The schedule for the state playoff and who will be the first opponent weren’t set yet by presstime.
They will have to play perfectly to advance in state.
“We didn’t follow the game plan,” Vikings coach Shannon Steele said after the match.
Set scores ended in 25-22, 15-22, 25-15, 25-21.
“Burns came to play,” Steele added. “And they did a really good job today.”
Burns came fresh off a 3-0 win against No. 3 seed Irrigon on Saturday.

The Vikings have been dealing with an injured Maycee DeLong, who is setter and co-captain.
“Her health is more important to me than a ball game,” Steele said.
Several players served at 100%: Demia Hardin, Emersyn Johnson, Maycee DeLong, Sierra Cleaver, Tyanna Norton and Alissa Fulwyler.
Fulwyler put on a strong performance after coming off the bench, with 10 digs.
Sierra Cleaver had four aces.
Lexi Cleaver gave the team seven kills and 10 digs, Tyanna Norton had five kills.
Jaymeson Jensen had 13 assists and Maycee DeLong had five.
