VALE – There will be plenty of bucking going on at the Vale Rodeo grounds Saturday when the Bulls and Broncs Extravaganza comes to town.
The event, sanctioned by the Idaho Cowboys Association, kicks off at 7 p.m. Saturday and will showcase bull riding, saddle and bareback bronc riding and barrel racing.
There will also be pony bronc riding as part of the pre-rodeo at 6 p.m. The pre-rodeo will also include mutton busting and stick horse races. The focus of the event is to create a family environment that is fun, said Vale resident J.C. Harmon, one of the promoters of the event.
“To bring this show home, to my hometown, is really special to me,” said Harmon.

The event began two years ago, said Harmon, at the Big Nasty Hill Climb in Payette County.
“But it outgrew the Big Nasty and then moved to the (Malheur County) fairgrounds,” said Harmon.
This year, he said, it worked out that the Vale site was a perfect fit.
“This is such a great event,” said Harmon. The event is sponsored by the Tri-State Rodeo Company from Burns.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for those 12 and under. “Our focus is to promote rodeo, and the event fills town with good-natured people,” said Harmon.
Mal’s Diner will hold a street dance as part of the Bulls and Broncs Extravaganza Saturday night beginning at 9:30 p.m.
