NYSSA – The Nyssa Bulldogs, both the boys and the girls, put up a fierce fight in back-to-back games in Nyssa against Baker on Tuesday Sep. 3.
“We held our own against a very fast team." coach Carol Steinmetz said.
"Our goalie Paola Trinidad made several saves to keep us in the game," Steinmetz added.
Midfielder Cristal Trinidad scored in the second half of the game, and Baker scored two late goals winning the game 5-1.
The boys played a tough game as well, losing to Baker 7-2. Junior Javier Castro scored one goal and had an assist.
The second goal was scored by sophomore Samuel Sotelo Ceron.
“We knew that they were going to be tough," coach Steven Escobedo said.
Senior Jerardo Trinidad Martinez, played goalie for his first time.
The Bulldogs will play McCall the next time around, a team they beat twice last year, Escobedo said.
