Jessica Kulm of the Vale Chamber of Commerce had an idea.

What if, she wondered, you gathered together those who at some point attended Vale Middle School for a group photo?

She found out on Thursday, when dozens of alums showed up at the shuttered school to join in the photo. Old friends met. Selfies seemed to be the order of the afternoon. And the range of alums showed how long Vale Middle School has been influencing lives in the area.

The new middle school, built next to Vale High School, is scheduled to open this fall. The old school building will be demolished at some point.
