Two dozen Malheur County residents got a surprise at work this month that put more money into their pockets.

They are among the 115 employees of Truckstop.com, based in New Plymouth, who received a large bonus in their paychecks after a San Francisco company took a major ownership position in the company.

The deal involving ICONIQ Capital, a global investment firm, was announced about two weeks ago.

Matt Stubbs, Truckstop.com spokesman, declined to describe how much each employee received but that it was “an amount that is life-changing for a lot of people.”

“All the employees received a generous bonus and compensation regardless of tenure, whether they had been here 20 years or for a week,” said Stubbs.

Stubb said the bonus was issued in a single payment.

Truckstop.com is an Idaho company that is essentially a digital logistics firm.

Truckstop.com links truckers with loads across the U.S. and has offices in Fruitland and Boise, as well as in Illinois, North Dakota, Arizona and in Toronto, Canada. It employs 460 people.

Stubb said the bonus was part of the company’s determination to focus on its employees.

“It is cliché, but this is very much a family internally and I think this just solidifies that,” said Stubbs.

Stubbs said the investment by ICONIQ Capital is “one of the largest private equity investments in Idaho’s history” and one that will allow Truckstop.com to expand.

Truckstop.com has an impressive history of growth, he said.

“It has been profitable every year since its existence. The company now serves more than 50,000 customers in the transportation logistics industry,” said Stubbs.

Stubbs declined to disclose the amount of the ICONIQ investment, but said there’s no mystery about why the bonuses were issued.

“Anyone who knows the leadership and executive team here knows that one of the driving forces behind it is to act with integrity and give back,” said Stubbs.

Truckstop.com, which has a new three-story building in New Plymouth, was started by Scott Moscrip in 1995. He served as president and chief executive officer of Truckstop.com for 20 years before he became chairman in 2016.

Stubbs said the action by Moscrip and Paris Cole, CEO of the company, is an example of “empowering and enabling” because the money would make a big difference for many.

“Taking a financial burden away from families is a big deal and they will ultimately serve the company better,” said Stubbs.
