BAKER CITY – The region’s top state lawmakers are urging residents to participate in a remote public hearing video conference Monday at the Baker County Fairgrounds Event Center on a legislative proposal to limit carbon emissions in Oregon.
Sen. Cliff Bentz, R-Ontario, and Rep. Lynn Findley, R-Vale, want residents to attend the session – set from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific Time – and give feedback on House Bill 2020. The proposed legislation creates a mandatory reduction in greenhouse gases in Oregon.
Bentz said in a press release that the proposed law will “cost Oregonians, over the next thirty years, millions upon millions if not billions of dollars.”
Bentz said the price of gas, natural gas and the cost of electricity will rise if the proposed legislation is approved.
