• Light of the World, a community Christmas celebration, is set for 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Vale High School.
Organized by churches in the Vale community, the event will accept donations of warm items – hats, gloves, coats, blankets – to help foster children.
• State Sen. Cliff Bentz (R-Ontario) is scheduled to be the guest speaker at the Vale Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting Thursday, Dec. 20.
The session starts at noon at Chabelita’s Restaurant.
• Drexel H. Foundation wraps up the year with its annual open house and tours of the Vale Hotel and Grand Opera House from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Dec. 31. The admission fee is $5. Visitors will want to check out the future art center.
• Enjoy New Year’s Eve fireworks across town, with the display provided over Rhinehart Butte. The spectacular show begins at 7 p.m., weather permitting.
