Thanksgiving is a day to share dinner with friends and family members. But for residents of Malheur County who don’t have a place to go, there were volunteers to help make the day bright.
At a Thanksgiving lunch hosted by the Next Chapter Food Pantry, more than 200 enjoyed a warm meal inside the First Christian Church in Ontario.
Beyond the dozens of dishes that were served between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., several hundred more are going out into the communities.
Take-away boxes were packed and delivered to homes and residents.
In Nyssa, the local food pantry and the Senior Citizens Center teamed up to served 200 more meals.
Whether it was the family people spent the day with or the generosity of strangers, hopefully every Malheur County found some reason to give thanks.
Volunteers began prepping plates for pies and desserts as early as 7 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Ontario.
