NYSSA — Nyssa School District Superintendent Jana Iverson has announced that she is resigning from her position effective June 30, 2019.
Iverson said she has informed the Board of Directors, district staff and faculty.
Her resignation comes after the recent completion of a $12.3 million project to renovate Nyssa Middle School. The district celebrated the school’s grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 25.
Iverson will complete 30th year serving the school district.
During her tenure in the Nyssa School District, Iverson taught high school math for 10 years and worked at the district office for eight years.
She was appointed the district’s highest post in 2016, after serving as the assistant superintendent for five years under Janine Weeks, who retired June 2016.
Asked what her future plans are, Iverson said she would like to go back working at a school, where she could be closer to her students.
