LETTER: Thoughts for new city leaders?

What is happening with 12th and Butler Boulevard? It appears to be the dumping ground for cars and trucks, some have been there so long weeds are growing up around them.

I am hoping that the new mayor and city council members can get something done about it, although I am not sure if it is in the city limits. There are lots of yards that are overgrown, with cars on their lawns. I hope these people will be cited and clean up their mess.

Next, we have the legalization of pot. It is causing an uproar about nothing. I don’t see anyone beating their drums and complaining about alcohol and tobacco products, trying to make these illegal. Pot at least has some medical benefit unlike alcohol and tobacco products. The articles opposing it are biased and laced with unsubstantiated facts.

Some of the medical staff are opposed to the use of marijuana, stating the harm it does to our bodies. I wonder if it is legal, will it cut into the profit from prescription marijuana?

This city appears to be against any new industry attempting to build in town. In the past it fought against a casino entering Ontario. It has also refused to give tax breaks to a few of the restaurants and business who were willing to build in Ontario.
