NYSSA – The Nyssa boys’ soccer team defeated Riverside 4-0 Saturday while the Bulldog girls lost 4-0 to the Pirates.

The loss to Riverside was the Lady Bulldogs’ (3-1-1 in league) last home game.

Nyssa girls coach Carol Steinmetz said the Bulldogs had their chances in the game.

“We just didn’t finish very well,” said Steinmetz.

The Lady Bulldogs will finish out the regular season Saturday in Umatilla.

On the boys’ side Abram Castro, Omar Jaquez, Mario Gramajo and Marcos Fuentes each scored a goal to pace the Bulldog attack and Nyssa improved to 5-2 in league play.

“The boys played really great. There are things we need to work on but we are improving and I am proud of how far they’ve gone,” said Nyssa coach Steven Escobedo. “The midfield killed it too. They played strong.”

The Nyssa boys team will also conclude its regular season Saturday against Umatilla.
