Teramura paces Tiger attack at Baker

BAKER CITY – Tiger quarterback Kenji Teramura ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns, and Dallon Haueter turned two turnovers into scores to lead Ontario past Baker 42-19 Friday night.

“Winning in Baker is tough to do. But we got on them quick,” said Ontario Coach Erik Johnson.

Teramura put the Tigers out in front 7-0 at the 8:45 mark of the first quarter then Haueter sacked the Baker quarterback in the end zone for a safety late in the first frame, giving Ontario a 9-0 lead.

Jose Flores pushed Ontario ahead 16-0 on his two-yard run with 10:39 to go in the second quarter.

Haueter’s 31-yard touchdown run off a fumble recovery gave the Tigers a 22-0 in the second quarter.

Late in the first half, Baker’s Riley Flanagan returned a pass interception 19 yards, cutting the Ontario lead to 22-6.

Early in the second half, Teramura’s four-yard touchdown run gave Ontario a 29-6 advantage.

Flores added another score late in the third quarter and Teramura hooked up with Michael Lopez early in the final frame on a seven-yard touchdown for the win.

Johnson said the Bulldogs did a good job of shutting down Ontario’s running backs early in the game.

That forced Johnson to rely on Teramura’s quick feet, which paid dividends for the Tigers.

“Defense kept us in the game,” said Johnson. “They made plays at the right time.”

The Tiger defense limited Baker to three yards rushing.

Johnson said, however, that the Bulldog air attack collected more than 200 yards.

“Hats off to them. But that should not happen,” said Johnson.

Ontario (2-0 in league, 2-2 overall) will face Mac-Hi Friday in another league contest that will cap off homingcoming week for the Tigers.
