HARPER – Corbin Palmer piled up 201 yards rushing and the Hornets put together a solid effort on defense to post a 66-13 victory over Dayville-Monument in football action Friday.

The Hornets improved to 4-0 with the win.

“Our goal is to get better each week,” said Hornet coach David Marker.

Ryan Talbot finished the afternoon with 82 yards receiving for Harper.

“Dawson Lunt had a great defensive game,” said Marker.

Marker said the Hornets can trace their success Friday – and so far this season – to “great team chemistry.”

“We have a common goal to work hard and get better each day,” said Marker.

Marker said Harper’s first win of the season – against Echo – set the tone.

“They (Echo) are a school three times bigger than we are. Going up there and getting a win was a big boost to our confidence,” said Marker.

While Marker said he was pleased with his team’s performance overall there are still a few things the Hornets need to improve upon.

“Being disciplined on offense. No dumb penalties. Running the right play and executing it. We have room to improve on both sides of the ball,” said Marker.

Harper will face Burnt River at home Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.

In other prep action, Adrian/Jordan Valley dropped a 62-6 decision to Wallowa Friday.
