NYSSA – A man’s escape from local police ended in the back of a garage under a pile of dirty clothes and garbage Sunday.
Ray Rau, Nyssa police chief, said 26-year-old Joshua Alcoser had been sought by police for several weeks after evading arrest by a Malheur County Sheriff’s deputy in July.
Alcoser managed to avoid arrest again Saturday after he was confronted by Nyssa Police Officer Ricky Branin on North 2nd Street.
Branin was on routine patrol when he spotted Alcoser and chased him. In the pursuit, Branin tased the Nyssa man.
“He screamed, fell forward and then the (Taser) wires broke,” said Rau.
Alcoser fled.
The next day, though, Sheriff’s Deputy Danielle Llamas received a tip that Alcoser was at his parents’ house on Clark Boulevard. Llamas and Branin went to the house and, as they arrived, saw Alcoser duck into the garage.
Branin and Llamas walked to the garage but found the door locked. Alcoser’s parents unlocked the door, and the officers began to search the building.
They found Alcoser under the garbage and dirty clothes and told him to surrender. When he refused, Branin told the Nyssa man if he did not come out he would be tased. Alcoser then surrendered.
Alcoser was charged with attempting to elude a police officer, violation of a no contact order, and third-degree escape.
