It’s time to dance, read and check out that refurbished Nyssa dock

NYSSA – It’s the last week of the month and as typically happens, things slow down a bit before gearing back up again in July.

• This Saturday, the Blue Mountain Fiddlers will perform at the Nyssa Senior Citizen Center, 316 Good Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. for a light supper of sandwiches, salads and desserts for $5. The show starts at 6 p.m. and admission is $5.

• July will be the last month of Summer Reading at Nyssa Public Library. In addition to reading for points and prizes, there is Storytime at 11 a.m. Tuesdays, and on July 18 Geode Science will be the main event. Every Friday, the Imagination Station art is available.

There is a lot to do at the Nyssa Public Library. On a hot summer day, it’s a really cool place to hang out.

• Work has begun on the dock at River Park. One of the pilings was damaged and needed to be replaced. Grant funding from the Oregon State Marine Board and money from the City of Nyssa are funding the work to replace the piling and make the dock sturdy again.

 • The big event in July will be the 53rd Annual Thunderegg Days July 12-14 on the Nyssa Elementary School grounds. There will be rock tours each morning; rock, gem, craft and food vendors; music; a quilt show inside Mac Hall (Quilts and volunteers are needed) a car and tractor show; Outlaw Lawnmower Dragsters and more before the grand finale fireworks show on Saturday night.
