Symona Lee “Monie” Maire

March 10, 1953~April 28, 2018

It is with immense sadness that the family of Symona Maire, known to friends as “Monie” passed away April 28, 2018, after a brief fight with cancer. Monie’s love and smile will be remembered through her family and friends. She leaves behind three sons, Michael Timothy Wright, James Hauckman Maire, and Stephen Andre Maire; as well as five sisters, one brother, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and her loving partner Jimmy Ragan. Monie was a woman who loved unconditionally with everything she had always, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her Celebration of Life will be held at Wadleigh Park in Vale on Saturday, May 19 from 12 to 3 p.m. It will be a potluck dinner and gathering.

Florence M. Allen

May 11, 1939~May 3,2018

Florence M. Allen, loving mother, grandmother and wife passed away at home in Brogan, Oregon, on May 3, 2018. She was born in Merrill, Oregon, on May 11, 1939, to Charles E. (Erwin) and Thelma B. Mayhall, the fourth of four children. The family lived in Merrill until Florence was 7. In 1946, they moved to Vale, and in 1954 moved to Brogan, where she lived until her passing. 

Florence married Arthur M. Allen on April 21, 1956. Together they raised four children – Arthur, Jr. (Sally), Ontario, Oregon; Darlene (Tom) Jacobsen, Stanfield, Oregon; Rodney (Cathy), Brogan, and Diana Meo, Boise. She enjoyed her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Florence worked for the Vale School District for over 20 years as the deputy clerk before pursuing her degree in education. She attended Eastern Oregon University, where she received a bachelor’s of science and a master’s of teaching. She taught in the Adrian School District for five years, and then taught English at Treasure Valley Community College until her retirement in 2013. Florence loved history and English and enjoyed researching for her classes. She was an avid, organic gardener for most of her life. 

Condolences may be made at www.bowmanfuneral.com. Services will be held at the St. Patrick’s Church in Vale on May 12 at 10 a.m.
