Free class in Ontario for those looking to know more about Medicare

A free class introducing Medicare to those 65 or older will be held Tuesday, March 27 at the Malheur Library located at 388 S.W. 2nd Avenue in Ontario.

The class will detail how to sign up for Medicare, options A and B, other insurance options available, prescription drug coverage, financial assistance and fraud protection. The class starts at 10 a.m., and runs to 12 noon.

• The Vale Senior Center will hold Friday night cards and a potluck dinner, the next session starting at 6 p.m. this Friday. Seniors can also play cards this Saturday, March 26, at 8:30 a.m., followed by a lunch served at 2 p.m. The Saturday schedule will repeat on Wednesday, March 28.

Board meetings for the center are held the second Monday of each month.

• The Vale High School Alumni Association will hold a meeting on Monday, March 26, at the Malheur County Commissioners Office at the Courthouse in Vale. The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m.

The agenda will include voting for 2018 Hall of Fame inductees and a discussion of changes in the by-laws.

• The 2018 Spring Into Wellness Fair Tour starts in Harper this Thursday.

That will be the first of seven locations for the fair, with over 25 community providers present at each. Each fair will offer raffles, including two bicycles (one adult and one child sized) as well as gift baskets and door prizes.

The Harper event runs from 4 to 8 p.m. The fun continues on Sunday, March 24, at Adrian’s Two Rivers Park, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For questions, contact Karina Carbajal at [email protected].

• The Adrian FFA is taking orders for berries through Tuesday, April 3. Five-pound bags of frozen strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and marionberries are $18. A five-pound bag of boysenberries is $22. The berries will be available for pick up Friday, April 6, at the Adrian High School Ag Shop. Payment can be mailed to Adrian High School or be made at time of pick up.
