VALE – On of the prime social events of the year is here as the Vale Fire and Ambulance Department presents the 15th annual Crab and Steak Feed on Saturday, March 24.

The doors open at 4 p.m. and serving goes until 9 p.m. at the Vale Fire Hall. All-you-can-eat crab is $40, a rib eye steak dinner is $25, and the combo is $50. Those 6 to 12 eat for $15.

Along with crab and steak will be Mo’s Famous Clam Chowder, salads, rolls, baked beans and drinks. Desserts will also be offered.

Each year, the department plans how to spend the money raised. This year, the department wants to update a training tool.

“We want to purchase a simulation training mannequin,” said ambulance chief Todd Hesse. “

The training mannequin now being used is 15 years old. The new one allows vital signs to be taken in real time, blood pressure readings and even allows IVs. Airway obstructions are available to be cleared with the new mannequin.

Along with dinner will also be the annual raffle. This year, two guns are being offered, available for viewing at Malheur Drug in Vale. Also available will be trips to both Jackpot and the Wildhorse casinos in Pendleton, Oregon State University football tickets, Boise State University football tickets and a wine tasting tour.

Tickets are available at Malheur Federal Credit Union in Vale, Malheur Drug, Vale City Hall, Vale Fire Hall, Chavelitas and from any member of the Vale Fire and Ambulance. For questions, contact Hesse at 541-473-3796.
