Lou Jean Jacobs was born Nov. 27, 1927, to John Thomas Jacobs and Bessie Cropper Jacobs in Delta, Utah. She joined four sisters and three brothers. Her sisters were Shirley (given name Sabra), Mary, Maureen, and Fanny. A sister Lucille had already passed away due to a horse riding accident. Her three brothers were Dan, Paul and John.
In 1935, the family, except Shirley, who remained at her job in Utah, moved to Jamieson, Oregon. She went to Jamieson Elementary School where she enjoyed playing softball and making lunches for all the students in the school kitchen.
She attended Vale High School and graduated on May 17, 1946. She was married on May 19, 1946, to Bill Musgrove, who was the brother of her sister-in-law Dorothy, and had recently returned from WWII. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in December 1955.
They had seven children – four girls and three boys. She was an amazing homemaker and taught her children the importance of being organized and hard working. She was a talented seamstress, cook, gardener, candy maker, straight talker and could do anything she set her mind to. She enjoyed spending time with her sister-in-law, Roxanne, doing genealogy work such as researching census and reading microfilm.
She loved serving others and held numerous church callings in Relief Society, Primary and Young Womens. Bill and Jean served as temple workers in the Boise Temple and she later served an LDS Mission at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents and all of her siblings.
She is survived by her brothers-in-law Terry (Roxanne) Musgrove and Don Harris and sisters-in-law Elayne Swygart and Gayle Musgrove; seven children Nancy (Gary) Kamo, Bob Musgrove, Tom (Suzette) Musgrove, Lee (Gary) Clark, Linda (Matt) Hiatt, Deanna (Todd) Lowder, Keith (Sheri) Musgrove; 37 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren with five more on the way; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the LDS Church in Vale, 135 Yakima St., with viewing before the service. Funeral services were under the direction of Lienkamper’s Chapel in Vale.
