Malheur County booking up for eclipse date

Relatives and friends coming to Malheur County for the solar eclipse better settle soon on where they’re going to stay.

Motels are booked, but entrepreneurs have options.

Montgomery Farms in Ontario has tent camping along the Malheur River at $300 for the weekend or RV camping costing $500 for the weekend. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required.

All sites are dry camping with flush toilets and port-a-potties on site. Visitors can also enjoy paintball, a playground, a community fire pit, small zip line, and evening hayrides.

An option for those with RVs is the Treasure Valley Children’s Relief Nursery in Ontario. Cost to park is $100 per night. For more information, contact Kathie Collins at 541-823-2526.

The Ontario Nazarene Field of Dreams Church will be opening up space to both RV camping and tents with reservations being taken starting this Thursday.

Cost is $150 per night for RVs and $100 per night for tent campers. Spaces will accommodate up to 40-foot coaches, trailers or fifth wheel trailers. The tent sites are limited to 20 by 20.

Port-a-potties will be available along with garbage service and a camp host. Pets are welcome on a leash and in a designated area. No campfires, drugs or alcohol will be allowed.

Also in Ontario, the Malheur County Fairgrounds will be offering 24 full hookup sites along with 50 dry campsites with access to restrooms and showers. A horse corral will also be available.

Cost is $100 for full hookups, $80 for those with electric and $60 for dry camping. For more information, call 541- 889-3431.

The community of Brogan also is also into eclipse fever. Both campers and vendors are currently wanted.

For those wanting to camp, a 20-by-50 space will cost $150 per night. Interested vendors are urged to contact immediately for more information.

For those looking to get away from the urban eclipse watchers, a ranch 15 miles outside of Huntington is offering up 68 acres directly in the path of totality.

Bathrooms and water will be available along the riverfront for those wanting to fish.

Fees are $100 per night for tent camping and $500 for a weekend of RV camping. For information, contact 541-869-2002.

DeLeon Farms near Huntingont is opening 70 acres to visitors, including land along the Snake River.

Tent campers along the river are welcome to fish with a cost $200. Tent camping in other areas is $150 and RV parking is $250. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required.

Port-a-potties and trash pickup will be provided along with a camp host. Pets on a leash are welcome, but no campfires, drugs or alcohol will be allowed. A security officer will patrol the area.
