VALE - Time is quickly ticking away for those wishing to help out their community by serving on one of the many elected positions. The deadline is 5 p.m. Thursday.

Of 84 seats up for election, 22 have no candidates, County Clerk Deborah DeLong reported Monday.

That includes three of four seats up on the Treasure Valley Community College. Only incumbent Roger Findley has filed to continue on the board.

Two school districts – Adrian and Arock – have had no one file to serve on their school boards. Each district has three seats to fill.

Boards serving Ontario are short of candidates as well. The Ontario Library Board has no one listed so far for two of three seats. The Ontario School District has candidates for two of four seats up in the May primary.

Smaller districts have fared better. Nearly every seat up on local cemetery boards has drawn a candidate, for instance.

For information on how to apply for any of the positions, contact DeLong at 541-473-5151.
