2 compete in Suicide Race

Although original reports had three riders taking on the trek down the mountain, the 2016 running of the Vale Suicide Race ended up with two riders on Saturday, July 2.

After a 20-minute climb up the mountain, the two riders made the screaming run down the hill, finishing in less than two minutes.

Riley Preston of Omack, Washington was the first rider down the hill and claimed the $2500 in prize money. Preston joins a long list of riders from the Omack area who make the yearly trip to Vale for the race.

Putting a local face in the race was Adrian’s John Bayes. With his second place finish, Bayes made the trip back to Adrian with an extra $500 in his pocket and a new found knowledge of the race is his first year of competing.
