Police arrest man linked to California assault

Nyssa police recently arrested a California man wanted in connection with an assault against his former girlfriend with a tire iron and then an attempt to strangle her in Texas.

Jeremy Danial Tristan, 30, was arrested by Nyssa Police Chief Ray Rau and Sgt. Todd Harnden March 24 at a house in the 1300 block of Chestnut, just outside the city.

Tristan faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, strangulation and domestic violence assault in Hays County, Texas. Boise police alerted Nyssa police to the presence of Tristan in Nyssa.

Nyssa police discovered Tristan’s vehicle at the house and then spotted the man outside with several other individuals.

Tristan was detained without incident and transported and lodged in the Malheur County Jail.

Rau said cooperation between Nyssa and Boise police departments proved to be key to the prompt detention of Tristan.
