A dozen teams converged on Pendleton last Friday, April 1, for the PCC Invite.

Vale’s Vikings came in sixth and Nyssa claimed ninth in the team results.

Topping the field was the Nixyaawii/Pilot Rock team, hitting 367, followed by Pendleton with 382, Heppner with 384, and Hermiston with 391, Burns at 394, Vale with 397, Enterprise 414, Echo 427, Nyssa 432, Wallowa 445. Imbler and Grant Union posted incomplete scores.

In individual results, McKay Justus led Vale with 92 (T-8th). Fellow Vikings Nathan Nieskens shot 93, R.J. Raven 94, and Tony Hahn 115.

Vale coach Tom Snook was pleased with his team.

“This was a really good effort by our guys,” he said. “We were short one player and still performed well as a team.”

Snook was encouraged that all four golfers at the meet played well.

“If we can continue to improve, we have a nice shot at qualifying for the state tournament again,” he said.

Next up, the Vikings and the Bulldogs travel to the Grant Union Invite on Friday, April 8.
