Good morning!
The challenges of getting you accurate information about the Treasure Valley Reload Center in Nyssa continue.
Greg Smith, project leader, and Brad Baird, project engineer, aren’t responding to questions about a $1.2 million cost overrun and where the money will come from.
The Enterprise requested records related to Americold, the industrial giant under contract to run the Nyssa center. Project leaders have been critical of the company for wanting special ventilation for the project although they agreed in a contract to provide a “temperature-controlled” building. We’re told it will take at least two weeks for any documents to be released.
And perhaps most surprising, state Sen. Lynn Findley has gone silent on the matter. He wears two hats – a state senator and a board member of the public company overseeing the rail project. He made questionable claims to legislators to pry loose $3 million more in state money for the project. The senator previously has been forthright in addressing press questions. The Enterprise provided him questions in writing and included documents showing conflicting information. As of yet, there are no answers for the community.
Meantime, here is some recent work done by your team at the Malheur Enterprise.
