Your news update from the Malheur Enterprise

Good morning!

Ballots go out next week to Malheur County voters next week and you still have time to register to get in on the action.

At the Enterprise, we’ll be serving up coverage of the contested races in Ontario and Nyssa. Don’t forget to put on your calendar the Ontario Candidates Forum, set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Treasure Valley Community College. See the candidates live and watch how they handle questions about what they would do for Ontario.

And one of the most interesting races in the state now is the one for governor with Republican Christine Drazan leading Democrat Tina Kotek while nonaffiliated Betsy Johnson is far back despite millions in spending.

Starting next week, the Enterprise will publish a six-part series put together by a collaboration of newsrooms in Oregon on the governor’s race. Each day, you’ll learn what the three candidates have done and say they will do issue by issue, from education to wildfires.

Meantime, here is some recent work done by your team at the Malheur Enterprise.
