Don’t miss Malheur County news

Good morning…

The week got off to an unusual start in Malheur County as people felt the impact of an earthquake.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake measured 4.9 near Smiths Ferry, Idaho, at 10:25 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26. No damage was reported in Malheur County but it sure got the attention of people.

Our Facebook post on the earthquake came alive with comments:

•We felt it in our classroom out at Willowcreek Elementary!

•Felt it in Ontario, Oregon about 10:31am. I could feel the house move in what seemed like waves. It didn’t shake like the one 3 years ago. It didn’t last as long, either. Our chickens were all huddled in a corner, so I think they felt it outside. The cat couldn’t care less.

•Felt it at the city office in Adrian.

•We felt it at City Hall in Ontario!

•Fairly short rumble…shook the dishes… just north of Ontario by the river.

•Felt my whole apartment rock ran outside with the kids and wife

The Geological Survey has advice on what to do if you feel an earthquake.
