The latest from the Malheur Enterprise

Good morning and I’m glad you’re here.

As reporter Steven Mitchell looked at test results for local students, the numbers from Adrian caught his eye.

The school seemed to do really well at reading.

Turns out, Adrian third graders last spring posted the best scores in the state.

To learn how that happened, Steven spent about a half a day in the Adrian school system. Superintendent Nick Ketterling allowed him access to elementary classes to observe. Steven also had time with teachers and assistants and with Ketterling as well.

The result is an in-depth story on a topic that should matter to you – how well schools perform.

This is an example of how your news team at the Enterprise goes beyond the press releases and mind-numbing rows of numbers.

Few news organizations anywhere in Oregon provide such journalism, and we’re glad we can do so.

If you have story tips, questions or suggestions, you’re welcome to reach out to me anytime at [email protected].

Here’s that story and the other reports to bring you up to speed on what’s going on in Malheur County.
