The latest from the Malheur Enterprise

Good morning and we’re glad you are with us.

Rodeo season is underway and the 78th Nyssa Nite Rodeo kicks off on Friday. We have full coverage of the rodeo events plus profiles of this year’s grand marshal and of the rodeo clown who’ll be entertaining.

And a word about the state of local news in Oregon.

The last few months have brought major changes to Oregon journalism.

Recently, the company that publishes a number of papers in eastern Oregon announced it would stop publishing some papers, including the oldest paper in the state – the Blue Mountain Eagle of John Day. EO Media is cutting back how often it publishes its flagship papers in Pendleton and Bend.

Here in Malheur County, the Argus Observer not long ago cut back the number of days it publishes as well.

At the Enterprise, we see a steady course ahead for us to do what you and others expect – delivering fair, tough and accurate news. That’s because of critical support from subscribers. We thank each and every one of you for being part of the Enterprise family. With your support, we’re bucking the trend to keep giving Malheur County some of the best journalism in the region.

Now, to what’s in the news.

WAITING TO BE ADOPTED…

Teddy is the cutest little guy. He’s adorable and has such a sweet and fun personality. He will make a great addition to his loving forever family.

All of our kitties go home with a “going home gift” of a litter box, food & water dish, toy and a kitty blanket, all of these items have been generously donated.

He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for FeLV & FIV.

He is an indoor cat only for his safety. No declawing is allowed.

Adoption event: Every Saturday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. or by appointment at the Constance McCullough House, 84 N.W. 2nd St., Ontario.

OFCP is also in need of volunteers. Do you have a couple of hours a week to help the kitties?

We also desperately need foster homes.. OFCP provides everything you need. You provide a safe place for them to hang out with lots of love until they are big enough to spay/neuter so they can find their loving forever families. Volunteering and fostering are very rewarding and you are changing the lives of these cats.
