What’s new in Malheur County from the Enterprise

Good morning.

Just a few days remain until Election Day, which is Tuesday, May 21.

Turnout so far has been thin. Malheur County Clerk Gayle Trotter shared details that as of Tuesday, May 14, the county had received 1,974 ballots from among 18,324 eligible voters.

That’s a turnout rate of 10.8% – quite a bit behind the election at this point in 2022, when ballots had come in from 13.6% of voters.

Trotter urges those now turning in ballots not to use the mail but instead drop ballots off at official ballot boxes. You can find them at these locations:

• Vale – Malheur County Courthouse – drive up – parking lot in back of Courthouse)

• Ontario – Ontario Community Library, 388 SW 2nd Ave, Ontario

• Nyssa – Nyssa City Library, 319 Main St, Nyssa

• Jordan Valley – Yturri Boulevard, across from the Post Office

Meantime, here’s the latest from your news team at the Enterprise, working hard to bring you news that you can trust.
