Malheur County prep basketball, wrestling, readies for postseason play

The postseason looms large in Malheur County as the Ontario, Vale and Nyssa wrestling teams will see several grapplers compete for state titles later this month. At the same time, Jordan Valley and Vale’s girl’s basketball squads put up undefeated records in their respective leagues, while the Lady Bulldogs hoops closed out a solid regular season to muscle their way into league playoff action that kicks off this week.

CHILDREN OF POVERTY: Grant funds new post to coordinate home visit efforts

The county’s education service district used a grant to hire a home visiting coordinator to bring together any agency that visits clients in their homes, from the county’s health department to the state Department of Human Resources, with the idea of reining in the splintered efforts to relieve child poverty through making those that work within the agencies aware of the what the other can provide needy families.
