A private reception is set for Monday, June 14 at the Hikaru Mizu Japanese Garden. The event will laud the performance of Japanese-American service members and the roster of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team.

Fourth of July parade returning to Vale, seeks entries
Vale Community Coalition, in their first year running it, is now accepting entries for the Vale 4th of July Parade. The parade, cancelled last year due to Covid, is set to return Sunday, July 4 at 5 p.m.

Major leadership change in the works at Four Rivers Cultural Center
Executive director Matt Stringer along with Tanya Navarrete, the marketing and development director, will leave the local entertainment venue and museum. Stringer - who plans to retire - will stay on until his replacement is selected. Navarrete will depart to start her own business.

The Malheur County Clerk's Office will send out ballots for the special election on June 16 to all registered voters within Ontario city limits. Two Ontario city councilors have said they will vote to recall Rodriguez.

Svaty ready for new role on the Oregon Board of Agriculture
The branch manager and relationship manager for Northwest Farm Credit Services in Ontario, Svaty and her husband also own a local farm. Svaty said she wants to advocate at the state level for farmers.
