Gov. Kate Brown announced Friday that Malheur County and seven other counties were being put on a watch list because of "alarmingly high per capita" rates of Covid. She said if the county can't get the spread of the disease under control, the community could face new restrictions.

New statistics show Covid evenly distributed across Malheur County
Cases of the infection continue to climb locally with the most infections in Ontario, according to data released by the Malheur County Health Department Thursday. Sarah Poe, Malheur County Health Department director, is urging residents to practice strict social distancing measures, wash hands and wear face coverings to help stop the rising number of new infections.

State grant will pave way for major upgrades to Rex Theater
Owners Mike McLaughlin and Sandijean Fuson will use $90,000 grant from the state to spruce up and renovate historic building in Vale. The duo learned earlier this week their grant application was accepted by the state.

Tina Kotek, (D-Portland), to give more money from marijuana sales to the city by adding an exemption to the statewide cannabis tax sharing formula for cities that meet certain requirements by basing it on total sales rather than population and number of dispensaries.
