On the one-year anniversary of the murder of a Nyssa reserve officer while he sat in his patrol vehicle, about 200 people attended a memorial softball game in the fallen officer’s memory in what a fellow officer characterized as “love and support.”
Jim Maret, Nyssa city manager, was honored for saving a man from death in February. Maret, who is also a volunteer police officer for the Nyssa Police Department, saved the man from an overdose during his regular police patrol duties.
