Coming Up: Vale Alumni meeting, art show, dinner on local calendar

ALUMNI: The Vale Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at the Vale City Library. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to attend.

The group will hold an election for director and alternate director, discuss the 2022 Hall of Fame event, and review the bylaws. 

ART SHOW: “Redemption,” an exhibit of art by inmates at Snake River Correctional Institution, continues through March 24 in the Harano Gallery of Four Rivers Cultural Center in Ontario. The effort supports the organization Visions of Hope, which aids children orphaned by rebellion in Uganda. Admission to the exhibit is free.

GROUNDHOG: Park Community Church will hold a Groundhog Dinner on Friday, Feb. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 193 Holly Road, Ontario.

The meal includes sausage, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, rolls and cookies, and the cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children age 7-12, and free for younger children. Proceeds fund gifts for missionaries.

SNOW FUN: The Burnt River Snowmobile Club is holding a poker run Saturday, Feb. 4, with cash prizes from a $1,000 total pot. Cards and raffle tickets are available at the Burnt River Market and the Watering Hole in Unity, and the Austin House at Austin Junction.

The buy-in is $5 per hand, and raffle tickets cost $1 apiece of $5 for six.

Participants can park at Blue Mountain Snowpark or Phipps, west of Unity. The event will wrap up at 4:30 p.m. at the Watering Hole.
