COMING UP: Paramedic party, Legion meeting, and Four Rivers hosts ‘Dalmatians’

Here’s a look at events and meetings coming up in Malheur County.

MEDIC! The Ontario Armory at 1330 S.W. 4th St. is the place to be Saturday, Oct. 22, when the Treasure Valley Paramedics Foundation presents its Paramedic Forward Campaign dinner and auction beginning at 5 p.m. and going until 10 p.m.

Proceeds will help buy emergency equipment for first responders in rural Malheur County and western Idaho. 

On the menu will be chili, cornbread, salad, cake, taco soup and a baked potato bar – along with live music by the rock and roll group Chaz, a bar and silent and live auctions.

Tickets are $20 at the door. The live auction is slated to begin about 6 p.m. For more information, contact Heather Land at 208-741-0458.

LEGION: Vale American Legion Post 96 will host the District 10 quarterly meeting on Saturday, Oct. 22, starting at 10 a.m., at the Legion Hall, 346 Main St. N. All members are welcome. Call Betty Duncan, 541-519-1775, to reserve lunch.

DALMATIANS: The Four Rivers Children’s Community Theater will stage Disney’s “101 Dalmatians KIDS” with two shows a day from Oct. 20 through Oct. 21. Showtime is 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $5.

The production features kindergarten through fifth-grade students from across the Treasure Valley. Tickets can be purchased online at eventbrite.com.

HALLOWEEN: Trick or treaters will have lots of options for Halloween sweets and spooky fun this month in Malheur County. Among the offerings:

Oct. 28: Ontario – Billed as a classic Halloween extravaganza, the Boys and Girls Clubs’ trunk or treat runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at Four Rivers Cultural Center, 676 S.W. 5th Ave.

Oct. 29:  Ontario – Mallard Grocery gets into the spooky spirit with a trunk or treat, games with prizes, drawings and more from 4 to 7 p.m.

Oct. 31: Vale – A Spooky Town Bash includes the Vale Chamber’s annual business trick or treat and Spooky Alley at Akinson Dental. The festivities run from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and participating businesses will post orange signs in their windows. 

Oct. 31: Vale – All ages can keep the fun going after the business trick or treat, with a Halloween trunk or treat from 5 to 8 p.m. in Vale. There will be hot dogs and hamburgers to eat, and a hay fort, haunted world and a bonfire for entertainment. The action is at the lot on the corner of Washington Street and the John Day Highway. 

Oct. 31: Nyssa – A trunk or treat event takes over the parking along Main Street from 6 p.m. until the candy’s gone.
