Sandra Diane Mayo

Sept. 16, 1947 – Aug. 19, 2020

Sandra Mayo, 72, of Vale, Oregon, died at home Aug. 19 from lung cancer. She was born at Brittingham Nursing Home in Ontario, Oregon on Sept. 16, 1947, to Edwin and Glenna Reilly. 

She attended Vale schools, graduating high school in the class of 1965.

She married Grant Mayo June 1, 1965. They had one son, Tracy, and adopted grandchildren Savhanna and Jacob. Tracy was killed in a farm accident. 

She worked for the Malheur County Assessor’s Office for 36 years, retiring 10 years ago as assistant assessor. She was president of the Vale Senior Citizens for five years during the move to the new building on Longfellow Street.

She is survived by her husband Grant; mother Glenna; children Savhanna and Jacob of Vale and Makala Mayo of Nampa, Idaho; niece Kasha Kaden (Ken) and JT Fontaine (Patti) of Meridian and their family members.

She was preceded in death by her son Tracy, father Edwin, her only sister Carolyn Fontaine, grandparents Frank and Sylva Turner, Charles and Hazel Reilly and many more relatives, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Thanks to Paula Paulsen for her love and kindness, and to friends who visited and called. She loved our senior friends and dancing group.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Vale Senior Citizens, 100 Longfellow St. Vale, OR 97918.

Services will be graveside at Valley View Cemetery for family, at a later date due to Covid-19.

Edith Mae Parker, 82, of Fruitland, died Aug. 18 at home. Lienkaemper Chapel, Ontario. 

Karen B. Gitzen, 76, of Ontario, died Aug. 18 at home. Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel, Ontario.

Douglas Day Moscrip, 81, of Fruitland, died Aug. 19 at home in Fruitland. Shaffer-Jensen.

Helen C. (Alden) Lopez, 74, of Emmett, died Aug. 19 at a nursing home in Emmett. Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel, Ontario.

Todd C. Ward, 49, of Nyssa, died Aug. 23 at home. Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel, Ontario.
